We Vow

By Alexandra and Robert Cribb

V1:

An old man on the street in rags, reaching out for grace

A young man walks past blinded with pride

And says, “your life is a disgrace.”

V2:

She sees them whispering after school

With daggers in their eyes,

They gossip and glare.

They lie and they taunt

They break her until she cries

CH:

We learn from what we see

And see a world that’s closed its eyes to the pain we allow

We’re young but we are strong.

We know what's right from wrong

And we stand before you now.

We choose love, we vow

V3:

A face that stands out in the crowd

They’ll never let her in.

The secret distrust, the unspoken fear

They colour of her skin.

CH:

We learn from what we see

And see a world that’s closed its eyes to the pain we allow

We’re young but we are strong.

We know what’s right from wrong

And we stand before you now.

We choose love, we vow

BR:

These eyes can see our shame

But these minds can dream, someday

We’ll change

CH:

We learn from what we see

And see a world that's closed its eyes to the pain we allow

We’re young but we are strong

We know what’s right from wrong

And we stand before you now.

We choose love, we vow
